Eric Osika (Soph) is ready for a full season and gives the offense some flexability at Forward and Mid field. Kazim Khan (Jr) and Brian Fielder (Soph) give the Lions excellent dept at Goal Keeper. Taylor Morten (Jr - Def), Brad Blechschmidt (Jr - Mid) and Jake Soukup (Jr - Def) return after part time starting roles last season. Freshmen new comers Mitch Boyce (Fr - Def), Kyle Hentzel (Fr - Mid/For) and Billy Dicky (Fr - Mid) will have to grow up fast as the Lions look to them for significant playing time. Other players needing to step up are Jr. Matt Gill (Jr - Def) and Elijah Bester (Jr - For).
SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS
The Lions open the season Monday 8/23, traveling to Joliet to take on Joliet Township. This is the first time
the Lions will see JT as an opponent. With only one day off, they then take on Timothy Christian, the defending
A State Champs. TC took out Lisle 3 to 2 in the regional semi's last season.
CONFERENCE MATCH UPS
Early conference match ups against Manteno (away), Peotone (Home), and Herscher (Home) all in the first
3 weeks, will determine if the Lions and get back to the Championship this season. Also, a new team has
joined the conference. Sandwich (Away) is the newest soccer member of the Interstate Eight. This means
Beecher is no longer on our schedule.
TOURNAMENTS
The Lions travel to Bradley Bourbonais for a beginning season tournament on Friday 8/27 and 8/28. Taking on
Danvile in the first round. The tournament will be played at the High School this season on a new Turf Field, on Friday night.
If the Lions win Friday they stay at the High School on Saturday for two more games. If they lose on
Friday Night, they will go back to the old grass fields at the sports complex for Saturday games.
The Lions will again travel to Glen Brook North to face some tough AAA level teams near the end of the season.
This tournament allows the team to play a much higher level of competition, which should help us prepare for the state playoffs.
